The higher base TDP and the ability to use fast DDR5-4800 memory allow this CPU to deliver very solid multi-core performance.

In synthetic tests, such as Cinebench R23, the i5-12450HX often scores around ~10,000–11,000 points in multi-core performance, depending on cooling and power limits. This places it very close to previous Ryzen 7 4800H or similar caliber H-series i7 chips, but the LOQ often costs less than traditional premium models with those same results.

In practice, this means that not only gaming but also productive work – coding, Photoshop, Lightroom, 4K video editing, Blender – feels comfortable on this laptop. Of course, it is not a creative workstation class monster, but for a mid-range budget, it offers a very decent all-in-one option.

The HX architecture has a dark side: power appetite and heat. This processor tends to aggressively boost to high frequencies as long as the cooling system allows, so under heavy loads, temperatures often approach the 90–95 °C limit, and in some user experiences, briefly reach 98–100 °C, leading to thermal throttling. The LOQ cooling system handles this „well enough,” but not with a large margin – this is one of the clearest compromises of this model.

RTX 3050 with 6 GB – why this combination still makes sense in 2025

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 is no longer new, but in the case of the LOQ 15, it is utilized quite logically. There are two key elements here:

• 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM instead of the previous 4 GB, which is very limiting in 2025 AAA games.
• Increased TGP (typically 60–65 W), allowing the GPU to operate at higher frequencies than typical cheap 40–50 W 3050 laptops.

RTX 3050 supports Ray Tracing and DLSS 2 (Super Resolution). DLSS 3 frame generation is not available here, but DLSS 2 alone allows for additional FPS, especially if graphics settings are too high for this class. In synthetic tests, such as 3DMark Time Spy, the LOQ 15 with RTX 3050 6 GB achieves a total score of ~5,000+, only 10–20% slower than some low TGP RTX 4050 configurations without aggressive DLSS usage.

With headphones or an external speaker, the issues are less noticeable, but for silence enthusiasts, the LOQ will not be ideal.

Due to high temperatures, many enthusiasts recommend undervolting – slightly reducing CPU voltage and/or PL1/PL2 limits to maintain the same real performance while lowering temperatures and noise. This requires additional knowledge and a willingness to „tweak,” so the LOQ will appeal more to those who are not averse to manual settings and understand that a budget „desktop replacement” often comes with a package of thermal challenges.

144 Hz, around 300+ nits, and nearly full sRGB – an unexpected budget trump card

The display is one of the most pleasant surprises of the LOQ 15. The tested configuration typically features a 15.6″ IPS panel with a resolution of 1920×1080 and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Some models use a 16:10 1920×1200 panel, but for gaming scenarios, 16:9 still fits naturally.

Brightness of ~300–320 nits allows for comfortable indoor work, even in brighter environments. Even more interesting is the color coverage – many LOQ 15 panels cover about 95–100% of the sRGB color space, which is simply exceptional in this price category.

Many competitors – for example, some HP Victus or cheaper Acer Nitro models – still mount 45% NTSC (~62% sRGB) and 250 nits displays at this price level, which look „washed out” and are unsuitable for serious photo or video editing. The LOQ, on the other hand, allows for comfortable work with graphics, video editing, photo correction, or creating content for social media while you are just starting your career and do not want to pay for a separate „creative” laptop.

The 144 Hz refresh rate in e-sports games (CS2, Valorant, Fortnite) provides a clear advantage over 60 Hz competitors – the image is smoother, input lag is easier to control, and the overall gaming experience is closer to that of a desktop monitor.

1080p 2025 reality – what this configuration truly delivers

The LOQ 15 (i5-12450HX + RTX 3050 6 GB) is fundamentally designed for gaming at 1080p resolution. The performance scenario can be summarized as follows:

• Demanding AAA games (Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us Part I, Hogwarts Legacy, Red Dead Redemption 2) – with intelligently adjusted settings (medium/high, turning off the most demanding effects) and enabling DLSS 2 (Quality/Balanced mode), it is possible to reach ~45–60+ FPS, providing a fully playable experience.

• 2× M.2 NVMe SSD slots – most models come with 512 GB or 1 TB, but the additional slot allows for adding a second drive without losing the first, which is especially important for AAA libraries and work projects.
