Factory-installed, “ROG Ally” comes with a high-quality 40 Wh lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery (4-cell, 4S1P configuration) with a nominal capacity of about 6900 mAh at 5.8 V. Battery runtime strongly depends on the selected power profile in “Armoury Crate SE” (TDP): from 1.3 hours of intensive gaming “Turbo” (25W/30W) mode up to 4 hours using “Silent” (9W) mode for light tasks.
Most common ROG Ally battery faults we handle:
Swelling: Due to the accumulation of internal gases caused by constant overheating or charging voltage that is too high, the battery cells may deform. This is a dangerous condition that can damage internal components or the screen.
Capacity loss: After 300–500 full charge cycles, lithium-ion cells naturally degrade. If you notice that you can play about half as long as before, we replace the old battery with a new original one or a top-class equivalent component.
Quick drain: When the battery percentage drops far too quickly even under minimal load, it often indicates internal short circuits in the cells or a damaged current distribution microchip.
Overheating: When the device is used for a long time in “Turbo” mode and cooling is disrupted, the battery heats up above the safe threshold. This can damage temperature sensors and shorten its lifespan.
Charging circuit issues: Non-original chargers or mechanical damage to the USB-C (DisplayPort combo) port can disrupt current transfer. The console may not charge, charge extremely slowly, or disconnect.
